Meet Adhil!

Name: Adhil Patel

Age: 40

Born in Durban, Adhil moved to Cape Town for varsity and never went back. Can you blame him? We love Cape Town, too 🙂 An Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon (OMTOM) veteran, he is a market researcher in the brand and shopping area. Read on to find out more about Adhil, the reason he chose the Rachel Swart Fund, and more. We’re honoured he’s running on our behalf, and we’re cheering him on for next weekend!

Are you a first timer, or have you run the OMTOM in the past? What about other half-marathons?

I’ve run the OMTOM half before, some years ago (2009) and also Knysna

What are your skills, interests or hobbies?
[I’m a] massive board game addict and play basketball despite my knees.

What made you choose the Rachel Swart Fund?

We kind of made a family decision. My cousin, his wife, [and] my sister are all with the Fund.

Does the work that the Rachel Swart Fund does resonate with you – or affect you – on a personal level? How so?

I come from an active family, and I could not imagine what my life would be like otherwise. Helping others to be more mobile and more active definitely resonates.

Any goals for the race? What are you looking forward to most?

I’m looking to beat my last time (which won’t be very hard!) and hopefully have some fun doing it.

Anything else? We’d love to get to know you better.

I was a scout growing up, a choir singer and practiced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for ten years.

And there you have it! Our sincerest thanks go out to Adhil and all of those supporting him. So far, he’s managed to raise a whopping R 3 900 on his GivenGain platform. To help him (and us!) reach his goal of R 10 000, pop over to his fundraising platform to donate.
